I have one MAC and one PC running linux - Can I use any VNC viewer softwares?  If not, which can I use?

You can use any VNC viewer but you won't be able to send remote commands, you'll have to use the timer. Just set CompatibilityMode in the config file.

CompatibilityMode= - If set to 1 it will disable the machine info passed during the connection
      initialization to allow non-RemoteZilla VNC viewers to connect.
      Examples: 0 or 1 (default is 0)
